Facts and Figures

Making a youth exchange, we are confronted to different cultures. So, today we went to the city to find out what Finns say about their country.

  • What is the capital city of Finland? 
Helsinki

  • Who is the president?
Sauli Niinistö

  • What are the symbols of the country?
The anthem is "Maamme Laulu" and the white in the flag symbolise the snow or the clouds and the blue the different lakes. 

  • How many people live in Finland?
5 millions 

  • What's the main religion?
Lutherian

  • What currency is used?
Euro

  • What is the traditional food?
Mashed potatoes with sauce, mushrooms, steak and berries. 

  • How do you celebrate the Easter?
By having mämmi, getting drunk and eating lamb.

  • When do they have national holidays?
The June, 24th.

  • When are they celebrating national day and the national day of work (Vappu) ?
National day is in 6th of December and the Vappu is in 1st of May.

  • Who are the famous people?
Petri Nygård, Kimi Räikkönen and Teemu Selänne
